Anchor In
Anchor In, a wonderful, just-renovated family beach house on beautiful Pawleys Island, is available for year-round rental.

Anchor In has the delightful atmosphere of an old-style island house, but with all modern conveniences. Pawleys Island is a rare, unspoiled and completely non-commercial historic resort island on the South Carolina coast.

Our traditional beach house has a direct view of the creek from the rear and side porches; the beautiful salt marsh tidal creek, a haven for migratory birds, is just steps from our back door. We have a traditional two-decker wooden dock on the creek on which you can relax and let your cares drift away in this idyllic setting.

The top floor of the house has two private balconies – one facing the creek and one facing the ocean – where you can enjoy the fresh sea air, and sunrise and sunset. The wide sandy beaches and the ocean are less than a 2-minute walk from our front door, just across the street and over the sand dunes.

A 2-minute drive from Pawleys Island takes you onto the mainland, with many stores, restaurants, and shops. There are quaint and historic low-country towns nearby to visit, and stunning local nature preserves and state parks less than an hour away. Also nearby are many renowned golf courses, tennis camps, fabulous outlet shopping malls, and mini-golf and entertainment arcades.

Pawleys Island – Local Attractions

Pawleys itself is a wonderful and unspoiled getaway from the cares of the busy world. But when you want to go off the island and do other things, there are activities of every type very close by! Here are just a few perennially popular places.

In addition to all the ordinary types of goods and services, local shopping on the mainland adjacent to Pawleys includes the world-famous Hammock Shop, where you can see these hand-woven, cotton rope hammocks.

There are many historic and scenic low-country towns nearby, starting with charming and historic Georgetown, 12 miles south of Pawleys. Walk along the boardwalk on the Sampit River, visit the rice museum, and be sure to pick up some treats from our favorite place, Kudzu Bakery & Market.

Places to experience and learn about nature abound near Pawleys. Hobcaw Barony, a 17,500-acre wildlife refuge and education center, is 11 miles south of Pawleys. Also, Brookgreen Gardens, an enthralling collection of outdoor statuary, together with a wildlife preserve, is just 8 miles away.

A paradise for bird-watching can be found at Huntington Beach State Park 8 miles from Pawleys. The Park is considered by many birders to be the best birding spot on the East Coast!

Eating out and enjoying seafood in waterside restaurants is an art form in nearby Murrell’s Inlet. Fresh local fish, shellfish of all kinds, a relaxed atmosphere, and lovely views make this small town a treasure.

If your taste runs to outlet shopping, head towards Myrtle Beach – 22 miles away. Myrtle Beach also is home to world-renowned golf courses, and an exciting Pavilion.
